History of Our School

                                         Government  Higher  Secondary  School, Poonur  was  formally  established  in  1968  as  per  Order number  GOMS 196/68 dated 30.04.1968.  First Head Master in charge of the school was Sri.V.M.Abdurahiman.

The School  is  situating in 3.50 acres of land at Paranna Parambu, Kanthapuram-Neroth  road  in Unnikulam panchayath of  Kozhikode District. The  land  was  contributed  to the  government  by R.P.Brothers-R.P.Ahammed Kutty Haji and R.P.Aboobacker Haji.

In the first batch of SSLC 84 students out of 169 passed the examination with commentable marks.

The school was upgraded into Higher Secondary with one batch of Humanities and two batches of science in 1998. In the year 2007 September a fresh batch of humanities was sanctioned and started functioning. Later in 2010  the self financing Commerce batch in our school  was regularised and in full swing.

Since a school from each Taluk  in the district comes under the scheme the school is selected as ‘Model School of the District Panchayath, Kozhikode’ in the year 2013

Intensive Study Camp

In its broad sense, education  refers to any act or experience that has a formative effect on the mind, character, or physical ability of an individual…In its technical sense education is the process by which society, through schools, colleges, universities, and other institutions, deliberately transmits its cultural heritage–its accumulated knowledge, values, and skills–from one generation to another . 

But  in the present days practical sense learning of theories, concepts and performance in the examinations are integral part of education. 

Now the school programmes are oriented towards making students to perform with their maximum potential in the forthcoming public examinations. Most of our students belongs to economically backward groups.  So school must be more responsible and helpful to motivate the students in the path of learning. 

School has arranged intensive study camps from January 25 to February 15 to help our students to face the examinations with confidence. School resource group has arranged various programmes to help the students in this regard. 

Home visits of Teachers, Discussions with parents, Intensive coaching classes, Analysis of previous questions and model questions, Model examinations,A+ D+ Clinics and Career guidance are part of the programme.

സാമൂഹികമായി പിന്നാക്കം നിൽക്കുന്ന വിഭാഗങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നുള്ള വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾക്ക് പഠിക്കാനും, മുന്നേറാനുമുള്ള സൗകര്യങ്ങൾ ഒരുക്കിക്കൊടുക്കുക എന്ന ലക്ഷ്യത്തോടെയാണ് കോഴിക്കോട് ജില്ലാ പഞ്ചായത്ത് പാവപ്പെട്ട ഷെഡ്യൂൾഡ് കാസ്റ്റ്/ട്രൈബ് വിഭാഗത്തിലെ കുട്ടികൾക്ക് പഠനമേശയും, കസേരയും വിതരണം ചെയ്യുന്ന പദ്ധതി ആവിഷ്കരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്.

പദ്ധതിയുടെ ഭാഗമായി  27.01.2016 ബുധനാഴ്ച ഹയർസെക്കണ്ടറി വിഭാഗത്തിലെ SC/ST വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾക്ക് ജില്ലാ പഞ്ചായത്തിന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തിൽ മേശയും, കസേരയും വിതരണം ചെയ്തു. ജില്ലാപഞ്ചായത്ത് പ്രസിഡണ്ട് ശ്രീ.ബാബു പറശ്ശേരി, ജില്ലാ പഞ്ചായത്ത് അംഗം ശ്രീമതി ഷക്കീല ടീച്ചർ, പി.ടി.എ പ്രസിഡണ്ട്  നാസർ എസ്റ്റേറ്റ് മുക്ക്  എന്നിവർക്ക് പുറമെ പി.ടി.എ നിർവ്വാഹകസമിതി അംഗങ്ങളും, പ്രദേശത്തെ രാഷ്ട്രീയ സാമൂഹ്യ മണ്ഡലങ്ങളിലെ പ്രമുഖ വ്യക്തികളും, രക്ഷിതാക്കളും ചടങ്ങിൽ സംബന്ധിച്ചു.

ജില്ലാ പഞ്ചായത്ത് അംഗം ശ്രീമതി.ഷക്കീല ടീച്ചർ സദസ്സിനെ അഭിസംബോധന ചെയ്യുന്നു.

തുടർന്ന് സംസ്ഥനതല പ്രവർത്തി പരിചയമേളയിൽ എ ഗ്രേഡ് നേടിയ രണ്ടാം വർഷം കൊമേഴ്സ് ക്ലാസിലെ ആയിഷ ഹിബ എന്ന വിദ്യാർത്ഥിനിക്ക് ജില്ലാ പഞ്ചായത്ത് പ്രസിഡണ്ട് പ്രത്യേക ഉപഹാരം സമർപ്പിച്ചു.

പഠനമേശയുടേയും,
കസേരയുടേയും വിതരണം രണ്ടാം വർഷ സയൻസ് ക്ലാസിലെ ഹർഷദാസ് എന്ന വിദ്യാർത്ഥിനിക്ക് നൽകിക്കൊണ്ട് അദ്ദേഹം ഉൽഘാടനം ചെയ്തു.
